Blank interiors for your own message or for any occasion. The image is printed in vibrant lithographic colours and is taken from a suffragette poster by artist Emily J. Harding Andrews. (Originally published by the Artists' Suffrage League). Image (in brown, gold and cream sepia) shows an educated woman, wearing cap and gown, and standing inside locked gates with a convict and a "lunatic". Attractive, circular plated gold-coloured metal reproduction brooch / badge with firm safety-pin fitment at the rear for affixing to clothes. The original badge, on which this is faithfully based, was designed by Sylvia Pankhurst for the suffragette campaign in 1909 / 1910. It incorporates the purple, white and green colour-scheme of the Women's Social and Political Union, and depicts a woman stepping through an iron gate and heavy chains, carrying a 'Votes for Women' streamer. 25mm in diameter.
