A full colour poster print from the original, hand-painted oils-on-canvas portrait (2003), which has been based upon a black and white photograph, circa 1909. (The photo in question is held by the British Museum). Image size is 18 X 20 inches, with titles extending the print size to 18 x 23 inches. Printed on 120 GSM archival matt art paper, using photo-sensitive inks, for superior imagery and longevity. Image can be supplied, in thumbnail, upon request. Beautiful suffragette-themed, jewelled Jabot pin brooch, the perfect gift. Modern reproduction, brand new and art-deco in style. Main gem: imitation sapphire. Secondary gems: imitation diamonds. Dimensions: 57mm long and 12mm in breadth at widest point (where main jewel is). With safety pin and chain, and the famous suffragette slogan "Deeds Not Words" engraved on the rear of the main shaft. (These words are the wearer's secret commitment to the "Votes for Women" cause!) Presented with a free purple velvet gift-pouch, which is in turn displayed within an attractive zip-lock gift-bag, clear at the front and shiny silver at the rear. Jabot pins were first used to adorn, or fasten, a dangling ruffle known as a jabot worn by men (on shirts) and women (on dresses) during the 1600s. They became important as an article of jewellery from the Edwardian period onwards - the heyday of the British suffragette movement - and flourished through into the 1930s as a special piece of Art Deco decoration. Jabot pins were worn on cloche hats, lapels, shoulders and handbags and were often adorned with jewels. New, fine. pp. Order No. NSBK-C16006

Rectangular, and measuring 3.5cm by 3cm, this badge is one of the larger and heavier ones in our collection. It's presented with a complimentary purple velvet pouch in an attractive silver-backed gift bag, and makes the perfect gift. (Particularly for any woman with a mind of her own!) The original badge from the suffragette era was glass-faced and contained woven fabric in the three suffragette colours. Therefore, the reproduction here has been created in transparent metallic enamels to give the idea of glass, and it also displays a downward gold-plated 'striping' to give the woven effect.
