Card 1: 'The Cat and Mouse Act', from a WSPU postcard, 1914. Card 2: Emmeline Pankhurst portrait from a modern, hand-painted oil painting, based on a photograph of her c.1909. The original badge, on which this is faithfully based, was designed by Sylvia Pankhurst for the suffragette campaign in 1909 / 1910. It incorporates the purple, white and green colour-scheme of the Women's Social and Political Union, and depicts a woman stepping through an iron gate and heavy chains, carrying a 'Votes for Women' streamer. 25mm in diameter.
